Obverse description Armored bust of Gábor Bethlen facing right, wearing a fur-trimmed cap and elaborately detailed plate armor, holding a scepter over his right shoulder. The mintmark KB (Kremnica) appears divided in the field to either side of the figure. A beaded inner border frames the portrait, with a Latin legend running along the outer rim.

Reverse description The enthroned Virgin Mary (Madonna) seated facing, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left knee and a scepter in her right hand, in the style of the traditional Hungarian Patrona Hungariae type. The date appears in the field to the left of the figure. Below the throne, the Hungarian arms (barry of eight, Árpád stripes) are displayed on a shield. A beaded inner border surrounds the central device, with a Latin legend distributed around the periphery.
