| Obverse description | Laureate and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, engraved by Mary Gillick after her first official portrait of the Queen. The Queen wears a wreath of laurel leaves in her hair, which is dressed and pinned at the nape of the neck with a floral ornament. The truncation of the bust is bare and unadorned. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, separated from the rim by a continuous beaded border. |

| Reverse description | A lion passant and a kangaroo rampant stand together facing right upon a curved ground line, serving as the supporters of the Australian coat of arms in a simplified heraldic composition. The design, engraved by William Leslie Bowles, was created specifically to commemorate the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Australia in 1954. The denomination FLORIN appears between the country name AUSTRALIA above and the date 1954 below, with the legend arranged around the field. The coin is enclosed by a beaded border. |
