| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned arms of Groningen — a quartered shield bearing alternating horizontal barry stripes and double-headed eagles — flanked by elaborate foliate and scroll cartouche work. The date 1690 appears divided across the upper field to either side of the crown. The denomination numeral 28 is positioned at the base of the design below the shield. The circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition, reading from the upper right around the periphery. |
