| Obverse description | A passant lion facing right occupies the central field, holding a flagpole surmounted by a Phrygian liberty cap, with a large unfurled banner billowing to the right. The lion stands on a ground line rendered in fine relief, its mane and musculature executed with considerable artistic detail. Below the ground line, the engraver's signature L. GORI appears alongside the Florence Mint shield punch mark. The circumferential legend GOVERNO DELLA TOSCANA runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, the entire design enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |
