| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Percy Metcalfe whose initials 'PM' appear on the truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the crown's fleurs-de-lis, crosses, and jewelled band. The circular legend reads 'KING GEORGE THE SIXTH' around the upper periphery, with the inscription terminating near the lower truncation. The field is plain, and the coin is bordered by a continuous inner ring of beading. |

The omission of "Ind:Imp:" from George VI's titles on this issue reflects India's independence in 1947 and the subsequent relinquishment of the imperial title — Parliament formally stripped it in early 1948. Jamaica's farthings were updated accordingly, making this short series a direct numismatic record of British imperial contraction. The colony itself would not achieve independence for another decade.
