Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed effigy of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the laurel wreath and armour. The legend GEORGIVS· III·REX· runs clockwise around the periphery in Latin characters. The truncation of the bust is sharply defined, and the portrait reflects the official engraving style of the Royal Mint under Richard Yeo. Die varieties exist with and without a stop following REX.
