Obverse description Left-facing laureate and draped bust of King George II occupying the central field, engraved in high relief with finely detailed curling hair and a foliate laurel wreath tied at the back with a ribbon. The portrait exhibits the refined, classical style characteristic of John Croker's work for the Royal Mint. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIUS · II · REX · in raised Roman capitals, distributed around the periphery. The coin is struck with a bold milled border of raised beads, consistent with proof coinage of the period.
