Reverse description A naturalistically rendered wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) perches facing left at centre, depicted in fine sculptural detail with wings folded and tail raised, standing upon a small branch or twig. The date 1937 appears in the upper field above the bird, while the denomination FARTHING is inscribed in bold letters along the lower portion of the field. The engraver Harold Wilson Parker's initials HWP appear discreetly in the reverse field. The design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
