| Obverse description | A royal crown occupies the central field, set within a plain inner circle. The crown is depicted in a stylised form typical of early Stuart hammered coinage. The surrounding legend reads CAROLVS D:G MAG: BRIT, abbreviated from the full royal title, disposed around the circumference with a star as a stop at the top. The lettering is in a serif Roman style characteristic of Caroline regal farthings. The overall die work is bold but irregular, consistent with the hand-hammered production of this series. |
