Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a large Type 1 double-arched crown with two crossed sceptres issuing from beneath; the crown is rendered in high relief characteristic of the Rose farthing series. The circular legend surrounds the central device, and a privy mark, where present, appears at 12 o'clock above the crown. The design is struck on an irregular copper flan with a brass insert wedge, typical of the royal patent farthing coinage authorized under Charles I.
