Obverse description Crossed sceptres surmounted by a royal crown occupy the central field, with the handles of the sceptres flanked by a large lis privy mark. A circular Latin legend encircles the design, commencing at approximately the seven o'clock position. The overall design is characteristic of the roller-milled Maltravers patent farthing coinage issued under royal licence during the reign of Charles I.
