Obverse description Irregular hammered copper flan bearing an Arabic legend in the central field, executed in bold raised script characteristic of Gujarat Sultanate coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The inscription, attributing authority to Sultan Shams al-Din Muzaffar Shah III, is disposed across the field in multiple lines. The surfaces display a thick patina of green and brown oxidation consistent with prolonged burial or extended circulation. The flan is notably thick relative to its diameter, resulting in a chunky, irregular planchet with uneven edges typical of hand-struck base-metal issues of the period.
