| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend within a dotted inner border, surrounded by an interlaced floral scroll border. The date in Arabic-Indic numerals (١٢٩٦) appears prominently in the lower portion of the central inscription panel. The overall design is characteristic of Afghan hammered copper coinage of the Herat mint, with bold but irregular relief typical of hand-struck fulus. |
