| Obverse description | The obverse bears a bold multi-line Arabic legend in Nastaliq script arranged in two registers within a plain linear border, naming the ruler Ghazi-ud-Din Haidar, King of Awadh, and the Lucknow mint. The inscription fills the entire flan, with the AH regnal date partially off flan as is typical for this issue. The deeply engraved lettering is characteristic of the hammered copper coinage of Awadh. |
