| Reverse description | The characteristic anthropomorphic or figural tamgha of Paikend occupies the central field, rendered in bold low relief. The device presents a symmetrical, tree- or trident-like form with bifurcating upper branches surmounted by a crescent motif, rising from a stepped or squared base — a distinctive civic emblem associated with the city of Paikend in Sogdia during the early Umayyad period. The symbol is centrally placed on a broadly flat, plain field, with no surrounding legend. The flan edges are irregular, consistent with the hand-struck coinage of the region. |
