| Reverse description | The reverse presents the classic Abbasid epigraphic layout featuring a prominent central rectangular panel enclosing the Shahada in three lines of bold Kufic script: محمد / رسول / الله, flanked by vertical marginal inscriptions on either side of the panel. Above the panel, the Basmala بسم الله is inscribed in the upper field. A further marginal circular legend surrounds the entire design within a dotted or linear border. The script is deeply struck and legible, exhibiting the angular Kufic style characteristic of mid-8th century provincial Abbasid copper coinage from al-Rayy. |
