| Obverse description | Irregular hammered copper flan displaying a geometric interlace design composed of crossing diagonal lines forming a prominent star or saltire pattern in the central field, with smaller star or rosette motifs filling the resulting quadrants. A linear border or frame element runs horizontally across the upper portion of the design, partially enclosing the composition. The overall execution is characteristic of provincial Islamic hammered coinage of the 12th century, with bold but somewhat roughly engraved lines. Arabic or pseudo-Arabic inscription fragments are visible along the margins, partially off-flan due to the irregular planchet. |
