| Obverse description | Effigy of King Juan Carlos I facing slightly left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features in a contemporary portrait style by engraver Luis José Díaz Salas. The legend ESPAÑA appears vertically to the left of the portrait in the inner field, with the Royal Mint mark (crowned M) positioned below the legend. The date of issue is inscribed along the lower portion of the outer ring, flanked on either side by stars from the ring's continuous twelve-star border. The bimetallic construction is clearly delineated between the copper-nickel clad nickel centre and the nickel brass outer ring. |
