Obverse description The obverse features a bold right-facing effigy of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, rendered in high relief against a plain field, the portrait cropped dramatically at the neck and occupying the right half of the inner disc. To the left of the effigy, the country name LËTZEBUERG is inscribed vertically in upright Latin letters, with the mint year appearing above it. The engraver's initials GC appear discreetly in the field. The nickel brass outer ring carries the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union evenly spaced around the circumference.
