| Obverse description | The Austrian national side features a stylized depiction of the gentian flower (Enzian), a traditional Alpine motif, rendered in relief at the centre of the field. The plant is shown with its characteristic bell-shaped blossom and foliage rising from a hatched base element. The circular legend EIN EURO CENT curves around the inner border, with the date appearing at the base of the design. Twelve raised stars encircle the entire composition along the outer rim, conforming to the standard European Union coinage format. The overall design was engraved by Josef Kaiser in a clean, modern numismatic style. |

| Reverse description | The common European reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, displays the large numeral 1 dominating the left and central field, with the inscription EURO CENT arranged in two lines to the upper right. A globe rendered in relief occupies the lower right quadrant, depicting the Western hemisphere of the Earth with meridian and latitude lines, symbolising the unity of Europe within the wider world. Six raised stars appear in an arc to the lower left and six further stars to the upper right along the coin's rim, completing the ring of twelve stars representing European Union member states. The designer's initials LL appear as a small mark adjacent to the globe. |
