| Obverse description | Central depiction of the Monument aux Girondins, the celebrated commemorative column erected in Bordeaux, surmounted by a winged allegorical figure of Liberty. The base of the monument is richly adorned with sculptural groups in high relief. Radiating lines emanate from behind the monument, evoking a sunburst effect. Thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery of the field, referencing the European motif. The legend MONUMENT AUX GIRONDINS appears in three lines across the lower field in Latin characters. |
