Reverse description The common reverse design for the 1 Euro denomination, engraved by Luc Luycx, features a large bold numeral '1' occupying the left portion of the inner disc, with the inscription 'EURO' to the right. Behind the denomination, a stylised map of the European Union (second map type, depicting an expanded EU) is rendered in relief across the central field. The designer's initials 'LL' appear discreetly within the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union.
