Reverse description The reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, displays a geographical relief map of the European Union in its fifteen-member configuration, occupying the left portion of the inner field. The face value numeral '1' appears in large format to the right of the map, with the word 'EURO' inscribed beneath it. The designer's initials 'LL' are present in the field. The twelve stars of the European Union are arranged around the periphery within the outer ring, consistent with the common reverse design adopted by all eurozone member states for the first map series.
