Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in the imaginary portrait style typical of late Spanish colonial coinage struck at Potosí. The circular legend reads FERDIN·VII·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R·, abbreviated from 'Ferdinandus VII Dei Gratia Hispaniarum et Indiarum Rex' (Ferdinand VII, by the Grace of God, King of the Spains and the Indies). The mint date appears in the lower field beneath the bust. The coin is struck in 22-karat gold with a finely milled border encircling the design.
