Obverse description Central field displays the crowned shield of Aragon, featuring vertical pales (pallets) characteristic of the Royal House of Aragon, surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. The shield is encircled by a beaded inner border. The peripheral legend, struck in Gothic-influenced capital letters, reads CAROLVS III R ARA with the date 1707, distributed around the circumference, identifying Charles III as King of Aragon. The overall style is typical of late hammered coinage, with irregular flan shape and bold, if somewhat uneven, relief.
