Obverse description Crowned royal shield of the Spanish Habsburg arms, struck on an irregular cob flan characteristic of macuquina coinage. The crowned shield displays the quartered arms of Castile and León, partially visible due to the irregular planchet shape. Partial legends appear around the periphery, though much of the inscription is lost to the flan's irregular clipping. The strike is typical of late 17th-century Mexico City cob coinage, with uneven relief and surface texture consistent with hand-hammered production.
