Reverse description The central vignette reproduces an engraving after Pedro Lira Rencoret's 1888 painting "Fundación de Santiago," portraying conquistador Pedro de Valdivia at the founding of the city. The issuer name runs along the top border, with the face value in numerals at all four corners and in text along the bottom; the left watermark zone carries a pale underprint of the Chilean coat of arms.
Reverse lettering BANCO CENTRAL DE CHILE POR LA RAZON O LA FUERZA FUNDACION DE SANTIAGO UN ESCUDO
(Translation: Central Bank of Chile By Reason or Force (motto on arms) Foundation of Santiago One Escudo)
