Obverse description Central field features the colonial coat of arms of Angola, depicting a quartered armillary sphere overlaid with the Portuguese royal shield, flanked by stylized waves at the base and surmounted by a crown composed of five towers and nine shields. The legend ANGOLA arcs along the left periphery in large incuse letters, while the date appears prominently in the lower field. Decorative floral rosettes punctuate the inner border on either side of the shield. The entire design is framed by a beaded inner border.
