Obverse description Central device depicts two volcanic mountain peaks rising from a landscape, surmounted by a radiant sun in the upper field with condors perched atop each summit. A circular legend surrounds the central device, with the date and assayer initials inscribed below in the exergue. The overall composition reflects the early republican iconography of Ecuador within the Gran Colombia period.
