Moyuela is a small village in the Belchite comarca of Zaragoza province, and this note is one of hundreds of hyperlocal scrip issues that flooded rural Aragon during 1936–37 after the anarchist-led collectives effectively replaced municipal and commercial exchange systems. The CNT-aligned collectives that controlled much of the region collectivized land, labor, and goods — and then discovered they had no small change to run daily transactions. Local paper filled the gap.

The Gari Monreal catalog documents these Aragonese collectivity notes with unusual thoroughness, though survival rates vary wildly by village. Moyuela's issues are among the less commonly encountered ones.
