| Obverse description | Central field bears the quartered arms of Frankfurt, displaying the imperial eagle repeated in each of the four quarters, all within an inner beaded circle. The shield is depicted in a plain, unadorned heraldic style typical of early seventeenth-century German municipal coinage. The partial legend MON ETA NOV (MONETA NOVA) surrounds the shield, with the letters distributed across the upper and lateral portions of the circular inscription field. The coin is struck on a square klippe flan, with the circular design contained within the square planchet. |
