| Reverse description | Standing winged Genius, shown nude in the neoclassical manner, facing slightly right and inscribing the word CONSTITUTION on a rectangular tablet set upon a pedestal, holding a stylus in his right hand. To the left of the central device stands a fasces surmounted by a Phrygian cap, and to the right a Gallic rooster stands on the ground. The engraver's signature DUPRÉ appears on the base of the pedestal. The upper circular legend reads REGNE DE LA LOI, and the lower exergual inscription reads L'AN 4 DE LA LIBERTÉ. The mint mark letter appears to the right of the rooster. A fine toothed border frames the entire reverse. |
