| Obverse description | Square klippe flan with a central circular design featuring the crowned arms of Francis of Valois — a shield bearing three fleurs-de-lis beneath a crown — surrounded by a circular legend reading FRANCISCO PROTECTORE. The date 15-81 is split across the left and right corners of the klippe, while the mintmark CB (Cambrai) appears in the upper corner and a small heraldic eagle or arms device occupies the lower corner. The overall composition is characteristic of siege coinage, struck in haste with a bold, relief design set within a plain square field. |
