Additional information

The VOC duit was the workhorse of small transactions across the Dutch East Indies, and Zeeland's issues are distinguished from those of the other VOC chambers — Amsterdam, Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Delft, and Rotterdam — by their provincial mint mark. Each chamber operated with considerable autonomy, producing its own coinage for the Asian trade, which creates the collecting complexity this series is known for. Zeeland's output during the late 1720s was modest relative to Amsterdam's, making chamber-specific attribution the primary variable in valuing these pieces.
