Obverse description Central field features a heraldic shield bearing a swan displayed upon water, the bird facing left with wings partially raised in a naturalistic rendering. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown with pearled arches, rendered in high relief. The date 1836 is divided by the shield, with '18' to the left and '36' to the right, both in large upright numerals. The overall composition is bold and uncluttered, consistent with the restrained neoclassical engraving style of the Utrecht Mint in the early nineteenth century. No peripheral legend appears on this face.
