Obverse description Central field features the crowned Dutch lion rampant displayed on a shield, facing left with raised forepaw, rendered in relief against a plain field. The royal crown surmounts the shield at top. The denomination is expressed in two parts flanking the shield: the numeral '5' to the left and the fraction '1/16' to the right, indicating the coin's value of 5/16 stuiver. Below the shield, the letter 'G.' appears in the lower field, denoting the gulden currency reference.
