| Obverse description | Central field displays the Latin inscription D / GEL / RIÆ / 1755 arranged in four horizontal lines, abbreviating 'Geldriæ' (of Gelderland), flanked on either side by an upright olive or laurel branch. A small rosette or floral ornament appears to each side of the letter D at the top of the legend. At the base of the wreath, a crane bird — the mint privy mark of the Harderwijk mint — is depicted standing, serving simultaneously as a decorative element and as a mintmaster's mark. The coin rim is defined by a continuous border of fine reeding. |

| Reverse description | Central device comprises the crowned arms of Gelderland, a quartered or divided shield bearing two rampant lions passant, set within an elaborate cartouche with scrolled acanthus mantling. The escutcheon is surmounted by a ducal or provincial crown of arched form adorned with trefoil finials. The circular legend IN DEO SP . NOS — an abbreviation of 'In Deo Spes Nostra' (In God is Our Hope), the motto of the Province of Gelderland — runs around the periphery of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a boldly milled or reeded border. |
