Reverse description Central device consists of the quartered heraldic shield of Gelderland, displaying two rampant lions passant guardant in each half of the divided escutcheon, surmounted by an ornate floral crown. The shield occupies the majority of the field and is flanked on either side by the divided circular legend reading IN DEO SPES NOSTRA, meaning 'In God is our hope,' separated by pellet stops. The legend runs continuously around the inner periphery within a milled border matching that of the obverse. The armorial composition is rendered in fine relief consistent with the milled coinage tradition of the Harderwijk mint.
