Obverse description Central field features the crowned arms of the States General of Holland, depicting a rampant lion within a single-lined shield surmounted by an ornate crown. The denomination fraction 5/1/16 is divided by the shield, with the numeral '5' to the left and the fraction '1/16' to the right, and the abbreviation 'G.' (Gulden) inscribed below the shield in the exergue. The design is rendered in a bold, engraved style characteristic of late Dutch colonial coinage.
