Obverse description The obverse field bears a bold three-line Latin inscription reading WEST / FRI / SIÆ arranged centrally across the flan, with the date 1739 positioned in the lower portion of the field. Above the inscription, three decorative floral and foliate ornaments are arranged symmetrically — a central ewer-like device flanked by two rosettes. The entire design is contained within a milled border of fine reeding, giving the piece a crisp and deliberate presentation typical of Dutch provincial gold coinage of the period.
