Reverse description The reverse displays the quartered provincial coat of arms of Groningen and the Ommelanden, depicting an eagle in the first and fourth quarters and diagonal barry with small charges in the second and third quarters, the whole surmounted by an ornate crown. Foliate or scroll supporters flank the shield on either side. The design is rendered in a bold, somewhat rustic hammered style, and a beaded border runs along the coin's edge.
