| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered coat of arms of the Spanish Habsburgs, depicting the castles of Castile and the lions of León in the principal quarters, with additional heraldic charges including the crowned eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. The shield is surmounted by an elaborate crown. A partial circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, interrupted by the coin's irregular flan. The die work is characteristic of the provincial hammered coinage of the Spanish Netherlands. |
