Obverse lettering CAROL II D G HISP ET INDIARVM REX
(Translation: Charles II, by the Grace of God King of Spain and of the Indians (Native South Americans))
Reverse description Central device featuring a crowned heraldic shield bearing the quartered arms of the County of Flanders, surmounted by a large royal crown with elaborate cross-pattée finial. The shield displays the traditional Flemish lion quartering in relief, consistent with the iconographic conventions of late Habsburg Netherlands coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading ARCHID AVST DVX BVRG CO FLAN Z, enumerating the titular dignities of Charles II as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Flanders. The legend is distributed around the full circumference within a beaded border, and the coin's slightly irregular flan reflects the striking conditions typical of the Bruges Mint at this period. The overall style is characteristic of the final years of Spanish Habsburg rule in the Southern Netherlands.
