Obverse description The obverse displays the provincial name ZEELANDIA inscribed in three lines across the central field, rendered in capital Latin letters. The Middelburg mintmark appears above the legend, flanked by a decorative star on each side. The date of issue is placed below the provincial name, completing the design within an unadorned inner border. The overall design is characteristic of the utilitarian hammered copper coinage produced for the Dutch Republic's provincial administrations.
