Obverse description Central field displays the crowned municipal shield of arms of Deventer, featuring a double-headed eagle above a barry base, surmounted by an elaborate crown. The city name 'DA VEN TRIA' is inscribed in three lines across the field, with the date appearing below the shield. The entire device is encircled by a decorative tulip wreath, characteristic of early seventeenth-century Dutch civic coinage. The coin is struck on an irregular flan, typical of hammered copper duits of this period.

Reverse description The reverse displays the crowned heraldic arms of the city of Deventer set upon a cross, with the motto legend distributed around the periphery of the coin. The shield reiterates the civic arms seen on the obverse, here placed centrally atop the cross in a bold, slightly crude hammered style consistent with municipal copper coinage of the early Dutch Republic period. The legend, rendered in abbreviated Latin, occupies the outer field.
