Obverse description Central device comprising the monogram 'CCE' (Copyright Company of England) formed by interlaced letters surmounted by a cross pattee, all set above a horizontal bar dividing the field, with the lower section bearing a rectangular panel containing horizontal lines. The entire central design is enclosed within a plain inner circle surrounded by a radiating rope or cable border running along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description The reverse displays a large date in bold numerals occupying the majority of the field, rendered in a flowing, irregular style characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. The numerals are surrounded by a wreath or scrolling foliate border encircling the central date. The surface shows the typical uneven strike and flan irregularities associated with hand-struck copper coinage of the Madras Presidency.
