Reverse description The central device comprises a large oval multi-quartered coat of arms of the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, displaying the heraldic quarterings of the Hohenzollern dynasty including the Brandenburg eagle, the Swabian lions, and other dynastic charges, surmounted by an ornate electoral crown and framed by elaborate Baroque cartouche mantling. The motto legend PIETATE ET IUSTITIA is distributed around the periphery, reading from left to right, with the date 1683 divided and placed at the base of the arms. The overall composition exemplifies the high-relief engraving style of southern German ducats of the period.
