Reverse description Within an inner circle, the crowned coat of arms of the Seven United Provinces, centrally positioned and supported on either side by a crowned lion rampant guardant; the lions face outward toward the viewer. The date appears in the legend at the top of the inner circle. The overall composition is formal and heraldic, consistent with Dutch Republican coinage of the mid-seventeenth century, rendered in exceptionally deep relief owing to the piedfort fabric.
