Obverse description Armored bust of Philip IV of Spain facing right, depicted in the second portrait type, wearing elaborately decorated plate armor with a ruff collar and the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece visible at the chest. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing on the cuirass and drapery, consistent with the Antwerp mint's baroque engraving style. The circumferential legend in Latin reads PHIL IIII D G HISP ET INDIAR REX with the date 1636, separated by ornamental stops, enclosed between an inner beaded border and an outer toothed rim.
