Obverse description Draped bust of Philip IV of Spain facing right, wearing an elaborately ruffled millstone collar and richly decorated armour, rendered in the early Baroque style characteristic of the Antwerp Mint's first bust type. The effigy is set within an inner beaded circle, with the date split across the upper field on either side of the king's crown. The circular legend reads in Latin, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies, beginning at the upper right and continuing around the periphery, separated by ornamental stops.
